To the south of Santa Clara, we find the Cubanacán Protected Area, a natural haven for amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds, with 10 types of species from indigenous groups in the country.
To the northeast of the territory the keys Las Brujas Ensenachos and Santa María stand out, among the most notable. Its small beaches with limpid waters and fine white sand invite diving and underwater photography.

Few cities in the Cuban provinces can be measured at the level of Santa Clara, in terms of bohemian spirit and nightlife. There you will find young people playing guitars until well after dawn, in the surroundings of Parque Vidal.
One of the most popular places for visitors and locals alike in Santa Clara, is the El Mejunje Cultural Center, with a mix of styles, tastes and people: the weekly program has days for traditional Cuban music and dance (Son) , trova, salsa music, theater, poetry reading, local rock bands, and even transvestite shows.
You can visit other places such as Bar La Marquesina, a small bar with live music that is usually a local band playing Cuban popular music. Excellent location to enjoy a coffee or a few glasses overlooking the main square. The Boulevard Club, small establishment with variety of shows, live bands, karaoke contests and recorded music to dance.
Also in the Casa de la Ciudad there are art exhibitions, traditional Cuban dance nights, folk dance and music concerts in the patio. And at the Casa de la Cultura you can also enjoy music and dance concerts on different days of the week.
Culture and history info
The city was founded in 1689 by several families who are remembered in a monument formed by columns located in the Plaza del Carmen Church.
Around its frequented Park Leoncio Vidal are located buildings of different architectural styles that travel from the colonial, neoclassical, eclectic, artdeco, to postmodernist.
It houses the second most prestigious university in the country, which gives it academic airs and a youthful self-confidence that makes us imagine from a mix of music, theater and dance made in Cuba for Cubans, to improvised concerts, drags and heavy shows metal.
We recommend that you visit the Parque del Carmen, La Caridad Theater, Museum of Decorative Arts, Loma del Capiro; Sculptural Complex to Ernesto Che Guevara and his companions of the Bolivian guerrilla and Monument to the Armored Train.
