Nuevo Vedado is one of the most popular residential neighborhoods in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality in Havana, neighbor of Vedado, with whom it shares places of historical and cultural interest. Culture and history info
Nuevo Vedado shares with the Vedado the space occupied by the Colón Cemetery; a necropolis that was built in the nineteenth century and was named in honor of Christopher Columbus. This is one of the most charming cemeteries in the Caribbean, and many of the tombs in this place were made of white marble that glows with the warm Caribbean sun.
And among the patrimonial jewels of the territory stands the Chinese Cemetery of Havana, founded in 1893 and the only place in the country that preserves the open-air Buddhist cult.
You can also appreciate more of the early history of the neighborhood in the fortress called Castillo del Príncipe, which was built at the end of the 17th century.
Appreciate a play or a dance show at the National Theater of Havana. This theater presents shows of the famous National Ballet of Cuba.
